Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between IVP and IVU?
They are the same test. IVP (pyelography) and IVU (urography) are two names for it.
Why does it take so long?
X-rays are taken at intervals as the contrast moves down. If a kidney drains slowly, delayed films may be needed.
Why do I need a creatinine test?
Contrast is cleared by the kidneys. The creatinine test helps confirm it is safe for you.
