Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between HRCT and a normal CT chest?
HRCT uses very thin slices and a special reconstruction to show the fine lung tissue in detail. A contrast CT chest (CECT Thorax) is better for lumps, lymph nodes and blood vessels.
Do I need to fast or bring a creatinine report?
No. HRCT Chest is done without contrast, so no fasting or kidney test is needed.
What is a CT severity score?
It is a number some doctors use to describe how much of the lungs is affected by an infection such as COVID-19. Ask your doctor if you need it mentioned in the report.
How long does the scan take?
About 5 minutes on the table. Most patients finish in 15 – 20 minutes.
Can HRCT detect TB?
HRCT can show changes that suggest active or old TB, but TB is confirmed with sputum and other tests advised by your doctor.
