Frequently Asked Questions
Is CT Thorax the same as CT Chest?
Yes. Thorax is the medical word for chest. CECT Thorax means contrast-enhanced CT of the chest.
Should I get HRCT or CECT Thorax?
HRCT is for the fine lung tissue (fibrosis, ILD, bronchiectasis). CECT is for lumps, lymph nodes, fluid and blood vessels. Your doctor will choose based on your symptoms.
Why do I need to fast?
An empty stomach lowers the chance of nausea if you react to the contrast. Water and regular medicines are fine.
I am diabetic and take metformin. What should I do?
Tell us and your doctor when booking. Depending on your kidney function, your doctor may advise pausing metformin for a short time after the scan.
How long does it take?
The scan takes about 10 minutes. Including screening and a short rest afterwards, plan for about an hour.
