The Procedure
Check
We check your prescription, creatinine report, and ask about allergies, asthma, diabetes, kidney problems and pregnancy.
Oral Contrast
You drink the contrast solution slowly, as our staff guide you, so the bowel shows clearly.
Scan with IV Contrast
A cannula is placed in your arm. Images are taken as contrast is injected, sometimes in more than one phase. A warm feeling is normal.
Observation
You rest briefly, the cannula is removed, and you can eat and go home. Drink plenty of water for the rest of the day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does CECT mean?
Contrast-Enhanced Computed Tomography: a CT scan done with contrast to make organs and abnormal areas show up more clearly.
What is a triple phase CT?
Images taken at set times after the injection, mainly to characterise liver lesions. It is done only when your doctor asks for it.
I am diabetic and take metformin. What should I do?
Tell us and your doctor when booking. Depending on your kidney function, your doctor may advise pausing metformin for a short time after the scan.
Why does the visit take about 2 hours?
Most of the time is spent drinking the oral contrast so it can reach the intestines. The scan itself takes 10–15 minutes.
