The Procedure
Check & Consent
We confirm the day of your cycle, ask about allergies and infection, and explain the test. A female attendant is present throughout.
Positioning
You lie on the X-ray table as for a routine gynaecological examination. A speculum is placed and a thin, soft tube is passed into the cervix.
Contrast & X-Rays
Contrast is slowly injected and a few X-ray images are taken as it fills the uterus and tubes. Period-like cramps are common and settle quickly.
Rest & Report
You rest briefly before going home. Our radiologist prepares the report for your gynaecologist.

Why must it be done on a particular day?
After the period ends and before ovulation, the uterine lining is thin (clearer pictures) and pregnancy is unlikely.

Usually yes, from the next cycle or as your gynaecologist advises.
